When will Apple release the iPhone 12?

We all know that Apple usually releases its new devices in September. But this time it kind of seems like the coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on the production of the new device.

The Wall Street Journal reported that mass production has been pushed back by a month.

Bloomberg also continues to suggest that the iPhone 12 models are still on course for a fall launch.

All of this said, we’ve also heard reports that had suggested that development would be unaffected, and there are other sources saying that the main manufacturing factories are fully staffed up. Plus, an executive at Foxconn (the main manufacturer of the iPhone) has said that the company aims to make up for lost time.

With all this being said, we are not certain about the release date yet. But we expect it to be out within September and October.

What will be the price of the iPhone 12?

Rumors suggest that pricing on the iPhone 12 could start as low as $649.Jon Prosser- a high-profile and widely respected leaker, despite an error at WWDC – thinks the iPhone 12 will start at $649, which would be quite affordable at $50 less than the iPhone 11. This chart shows some of his leaks and other rumored dates:

Model 128GB 256GB 512GB
iPhone 12 4G $549 ———– ———–
iPhone 12 5G $649 $749 Not an option
iPhone 12 Max 4G $649 ———– ———–
iPhone 12 Max $749 $849 Not an option
iPhone 12 Pro $999 $1,099 $1,299
iPhone 12 Pro Max $1,099 $1,199 $1,399

The iPhone 12 will come in four models which are;

  1. 5.4-inch iPhone 12;
  2. 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max;
  3. 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro;
  4. 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.

All these four models will bring back the flat metal-edge design of the iPhone 5, according to Bloomberg. And a little mashup of the Ipad pro 2020.

Along with the iPad Pro-style design and size tweaks, leaked schematics that allegedly reveal Apple’s plans for the device also show several other minor design tweaks worth noting, as listed below:

  • Slightly larger camera lenses
  • Thicker antenna lines at the side for 5G
  • SIM tray relocated to the left side of the device
  • Smart Connector-like input on the right (which may actually be an antenna)
  • One less speaker hole on right side of the speaker grille
  • Slightly lower power button

The notch contains a number of important sensors – those for Face ID, for example – and removing it would raise design problems, of course.

Some sources speaking to Bloomberg claim similar, and they make comparisons to the design of the iPad Pro, saying that the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have flat stainless steel edges, more sharply rounded corners, and flat screens.

Sonny Dickson (a leaker with a good track record) has also now shared iPhone 12 range dummy units that appear to be in line with this – as well as having flat edges, as rumored above. You can see these below.

As for the colors, rumors have it that new Apple will introduce a new color: navy blue. Another rumor suggests the iPhone 12 models could come in light blue, violet, and light orange, among other colors. And also the plain iPhone 12 will follow the 11 in the main.

The new iPhone 12 Pro’s display could support a welcome improvement over the screens on many current smartphones. Both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are expected to feature 120Hz ProMotion displays. The regular iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will likely offer 60Hz displays.

Offering an iPhone Pro with a 120Hz refresh rate should mean smoother scrolling as well as more fluid video playback and smoother gameplay.

detailed display;

Display details expected for each iPhone have leaked, with details below:

  • 5.4-inch iPhone 12 – OLED display from Samsung Display with Y-OCTA integrated touch. 2340 x 1080 resolution with 475 PPI.
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max – OLED display from BOE/LG Display with a 2532 x 1170 resolution and 460 PPI.
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro – OLED display from Samsung, possibly with XDR. ProMotion possible, but not guaranteed based on power requirements and lack of LTPO. 2532 x 1170 resolution and 460 PPI.
  • 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max – OLED display from Samsung with Y-OCTA support and possibly with XDR. ProMotion possible, but not guaranteed based on power requirements and lack of LTPO. 2778 x 1284 resolution at 458 PPI.

Rear Cameras

Apple made major changes to the rear camera system in the 2019 iPhone lineup with the new triple-lens setup of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, and 2020 may bring even more camera improvements. Rumors suggest some of the new iPhone models coming in 2020 will feature a 3D camera, which sounds like the LiDAR Scanner feature that Apple added in the 2020 iPad Pro models.

Plus, reputable leaker Max Weinbach says he has heard that the iPhone 12 Pro will feature Smart HDR functionality for improved low-light performance. That’s alongside a 3x optical zoom, which is an increase from the 2x zoom capability featured in the iPhone 11 range. And we’ve also heard that all four new iPhone models might get a camera improvement in the form of a 7-element wide-angle lens. That’s one more element than current models, which could lead to fewer aberrations and less distortion.

The iPhones coming in 2020 could have some small gains in battery capacity as Apple suppliers are working on a custom battery protection module that’s 50 percent smaller and thinner than the same component in previous iPhones. That could free up valuable space in the iPhone.

  • iPhone 12 may have a 2,227mAh
  • iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro may have a 2,775mAh
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max may have a 3,687mAh

iPhone 12 and 5G

A report from Nikkei says that all iPhone 12 models will ship with support for 5G networks, but the type of 5G may vary by the model. While Apple analyst Jon Prosser agrees that all four iPhone 12 models will ship with 5G networking support, the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 may not support mmWave technology, which offers the fastest download speeds. Instead, these more affordable devices would support only sub-6GHz 5G.

Even though there tons of leaks as written in this blog but we are not certain yet. So let’s have patience and wait for this exciting iPhone 12 launch.
